Dads are a different kind of breed. Some dads like to work even in their free time, some like to take it easy and snooze on the couch. To start your family traditions for Father’s Day, you need to first know what kind of a dad you have. Talk to him, find out what his likes and dislikes are – of course since he is a male, it will be easier to talk to him if you are playing basketball with him at the same time rather than trying to sit him down in the living room for a discussion.

Dad deserves to have a day that he can truly be the boss. He decides how it is spent, with whom, and where. Holidays like Father’s Day should not be overlooked, but planned ahead for just like any of the major holidays. Show your dad that you really do care about him by letting him know ahead of time, you want to know what HE wants to do on his day.

Some dads won’t have any idea what they want to do, so help out with some suggestions. Does your dad love to fish but hasn’t had any time lately? Maybe Father’s Day should be his yearly fishing day. Is your dad a big sports fan? Is there a game he would like to go see? How about golf, or even just a driving rage? This is why it is important to plan ahead. Father’s Day is a day when dads like to go DO things.

Gifts for dad do not have to be as hard as you think, or as boring as another tie and a bunch socks or some after shave. There really is some cool stuff out there for dads!

If your dad is a sports fan, how about items related to his favorite team? Fisherman? Then try an assortment of tackle, or a new tackle box – fishermen love to try out new items! In order to get dad a good present, you have to know what he likes. Dads like presents that are fun and useful.

Learn to take the time to find out what your dad enjoys, this is the best way to make sure you can plan him a day that will become his very own traditional Father’s Day.
