This simple children's Christmas ornament craft is great for families or small groups. Be careful to supervise children or do all the hard work for them. They're just here to watch you work on the Christmas wreath! Just follow these easy how to instructions for a dried Christmas holiday wreath ornament you'll love.
How many of you have those great big old sweet-gum trees in your yard. What's a Sweet-Gum Tree? It's a tree that drops its pods all over your yard, car, and pricks your fingers when you try to pick it up or hurts your feet when stepped on. It's a brown ball with prickly fingers all over it.
Supplies:
Sweet-Gum pods similar in size
(The number needed depends on the size of the
wreath that you want to make. We made a small
one, using ten sweet-gum pods.)
Dried Materials
(small pinecones, seeds, berries, holly leaves)
Raffia
Hot glue Gun
Clear Acrylic Spray
Directions:
Lay pods on work surface, forming a circle. Using your hot glue gun, glue pods together, forming a circle. Let glue dry completely.
Take raffia, bring through the center of ornament and tie in knot, leaving a 1" loop for hanging at top of ornament. Tie remaining raffie into a bow.
If desired, take dried materials and glue to the top of the ornament on front of wreath.
Once the glue sets, spray entire wreath with clear acrylic spray.
